My Background

Hello! I’m Sarah McGill Brown, Ph.D., founder and lead organizer at Equilibrium.

I started working as a home organizer after getting my doctorate degree in sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While my sociology degree provided me with expansive scientific knowledge on social systems and interactions, my experience working my way through graduate school as a student-parent left me a deep sense of empathy for other Triangle professionals juggling competing work-life demands.

As I considered options for my next chapter after graduate school, a friend of mine - and then another and another - asked for my help solving home organization challenges. I discovered I love this line of work, and I decided to found Equilibrium to offer my services to households across the Triangle. Outside of my time organizing, I love going camping with my elementary-age son and hosting friends for brunch.
